Structural Engineering

JVA’s structural engineering department focuses on building design and is experienced in all conventional building systems, including light wood framing, steel, concrete, and masonry construction. Our structural engineering team produces thorough, well-coordinated construction documents and provides excellent service throughout the life of a project. Our engineers value creativity on all of our projects, and are always looking forward to progressing the industry and utilizing new technology. 

Our structural team has expertise designing buildings with specialized structural requirements such as buildings with heavy snow loads, high wind, flood forces, and high seismicity. Projects in varying climatic regions (including high mountain, arid desert, coastal, and remote locations) require unusual construction techniques and innovative solutions. Our team also enjoys the creative challenges of designing unique structures such as climbing walls or buildings made from shipping containers. 

JVA has a group of structural engineers dedicated to the preservation of historic properties. They specialize in archaic systems evaluation and forensic and investigative engineering services. These projects have taken JVA coast to coast and have received national awards. 

JVA’s structural team utilizes technology to facilitate coordination with design and construction teams. We provide ongoing staff training to stay on top of technological innovation such as drone mapping and embodied carbon analysis.
