Montbello High School Modernization
Location: Denver, CO
Budget: $152M
Size: 277,000SF
Project Description
JVA served as the structural and civil engineer for Denver Public Schools’ Montbello High School modernization—a 277,000-square-foot, multi-phased project delivered over two years while the campus remained fully operational throughout construction. The scope included two large precast classroom wings, a new gymnasium, and a signature curved main corridor with a stepped courtyard, along with renovations to the existing gymnasium, classrooms, and auditorium. Through careful planning and coordination with the design and construction teams, the new structural systems were integrated with the original facilities that remained in service during the entire construction phase. The result is a state-of-the-art learning environment that has not only expanded and modernized the campus, but also helped reinvigorate the surrounding Montbello community—strengthening a local hub for education, activities, and neighborhood pride in north Denver.
