JVA said farewell to Mark Cormier, Structural Principal, who retired from the firm in July. Mark spent his entire 40-year engineering career with JVA after graduating from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. He initially worked in JVA’s Arvada office under JVA’s founder, Bob Voiland, and moved to the Boulder office in 1990. Mark oversaw JVA’s structural team in Boulder for over 10 years and he served as a Vice President of the firm up until last year.
Mark’s passion was the design of institutional buildings with emphasis on education and healthcare facilities. His K-12 education experience is second to none and he designed school buildings for nearly every district across the State. Mark was active in Engineers Without Borders, SEAC’s Architectural Liaison Committee and the Standard of Practice Committee for SEAC.
