Ponderosa Community Stabilization Project
Location: Boulder, CO
Project Description
In 2017, the City of Boulder purchased the Ponderosa Mobile Home Park as part of the Ponderosa Community Stabilization Project, a unique affordable housing project with a goal to minimize displacement, preserve long-term affordability, replace outdated infrastructure, reduce flood risk to the community and introduce new energy-efficient affordable housing options. Through a multi year phased development process, Ponderosa will eventually include 74 single-family, duplex, and triplex units on fixed foundations, replacing the existing mobile homes one at a time, as the homeowners opt in to the Habitat home ownership program.
Since 2016, JVA has managed the entitlements, site development, planning and construction of this multi-phase project.
Currently the first Triplex has been completed, with all the homes on West Court nearing completion as part of the next phase. Modular homes from the BoulderMOD factory will arrive in early November as part of the next phase of work on duplex units along Esperanza.
